M. Attali and the "genocide of the old" (continued)
This is a rare trial of its kind. It is not every day that we see people convicted of defamation called to appear for having repeated this defamation and, what is more, on three occasions in the months following the conviction. In addition, when the complainant's name is Mr. Jacques Attali, his lawyer is Mr. Georges Kiejman and the case again concerns the interpretation of some of his writings such as to present him as a supporter of " genocide of the old ", the debate is not one that goes unnoticed.

At the origin of everything, there is a reflection made in 1980 by Mr. Attali on euthanasia and, beyond this question, on what might be, in a capitalist market society, a policy of health leading to the sacrifice of the oldest people for the benefit of the youngest. This reflection, published in a book entitled l'Avenir de la vie and presented by Doctor Michel Salomon, did not arouse any particular echo at the time. But when, after May 1981, Mr. Attali becomes special advisor to the President of the Republic, it will be exploited and a campaign opens in the journal Profiles medico-social. Mr. Attali is presented as a partisan of a "genocide of the old", we see in his reflection a resumption of National Socialist theories; a leaflet on this topic is distributed.

Mr. Attali then assigns the leaders of the medico-social Profiles, Doctor Jean Goreux, Mr. Claude Savy, as well as Mrs. "Marie-Hélène Ugolini, president of the National League of Social Insured. In the first instance, they are released. The 17th chamber of the Paris court ruled that there had only been a debate of ideas, a criticism of opinion, but that no specific fact was attributed to Mr. Mitterrand's adviser. The 11th chamber of the court overturns the first instance decision and condemns. Its judgment rendered on January 18 becomes final (Le Monde of January 20, 1984). Medico-social profiles will have to insert the text of this judgment in two numbers.

”The future will be about finding a way to reduce the population. We start with the old, because as soon as they exceed 60-65 years, people live longer than they produce and that costs society dearly. Then the weak, then the useless that do not help society because there will always be more of them, and above all, ultimately, the stupid.
Euthanasia will have to be an essential tool in our future societies, in all cases. Of course we will not be able to execute people or build camps.

We get rid of them by making them believe that it is for their own good. Overpopulation, and mostly useless, is something that is too costly economically.
Socially, too, it is much better when the human machine comes to an abrupt standstill than when it gradually deteriorates.

  • Neither will we be able to test millions upon millions of people for their intelligence, you bet that! We will find or cause something a pandemic targeting certain people, a real economic crisis or not, a virus affecting the old or the fat, it doesn't matter, the weak will succumb to it, the fearful and stupid will believe in it and seek treatment. We will have made sure that treatment is in place, treatment that will be the solution. The selection of idiots then takes care of itself: You go to the slaughter by yourself."
